Incorporating traditional and modern sake bottles and cups into a new international trend of Japanese sake. This is the "Komasuji Hyotan" Bottle and Cup series. The shape represents a bottle gourd, which is known as a traditional design. The adorable cup looks like a reversed calyx of a bottle gourd. It appears that the blue or red lines hand painted by an artisan have shades of color, which will probably make you feel artisan's subtleness in every single painting process.
Since early times in Japan, sake bottles and sake cups have been used on various seasonal or special occasions such as wedding ceremonies and Shinto rituals, and those important utensils have been nurtured as Japanese culture as well as tableware items for drinking sake.
