Remarkable secateurs forged in the Aomori style, where they are traditionally used for orchard pruning. The double spring/cushioning allows for non-stop, repetitive work - imagine winter pruning entire orchards, or indeed winter pollards, where one is cutting repeatedly for much of the day. Old Yamakawa san treated us to a special batch, and they come in a hard wearing canvas pouch. Yamakawa san started working for his father the day after he graduated from high school, and has been making secateurs ever since. His Yamagata factory is home to five stray cats, each fed on fresh sashimi!
