High quality and heavier duty snips, best for flowers, fruit, veg & lighter pruning, for more robust work. Not as tough as secateurs, but they’ll handle light woody cuts and are great for detailed pruning and thinning, as well as Japanese pine pruning work.
These snips are made in a beautiful old family-run factory in Sanjo, with rather a fine viewing gallery around the whole space.
Japanese steel is hard and sharp, and can be more brittle than some people are used to - it will chip if abused. Do not cut wire, metal, stone, plastic or any other hard material (even bamboo fibers and some very hard woods, especially knots and burrs, can damage steel edges). Avoid twisting or apply uneven pressure.
