Hoshi Emi, a woodblock artist born and raised in Tokyo, currently lives in a town nestled in the mountains in northern Okayama Prefecture, close to the border with Tottori Prefecture.
Hoshi is aware that she is not very good at talking, and for her, the small creatures that frequently appear in her prints seem to be her sympathizers and spokespersons.
These animals are indifferent to being swept away by the current, yet never forget their strength and refusal to be flattered. The small incidents that happen around her every day become the subject matter of her prints one after another.
